Fungai Nengare is a versatile Zimbabwean singer-songwriter ,performer, guitarist and Star fm best R&B song nominee (2019) known for his warm, Afro-centric fusion of jazz, pop and RnB. Fungai started singing at the tender age of 7 and by the age of 10 found himself being an assistant choirmaster at his local primary school. He has had a passion for music ever since. He draws his inspiration from Artists such as John Legend, Frank Sinatra , Bill Withers, Amy Winehouse, Coldplay, Alicia keys  and many more. He went on to study Music in World Cultures at UNISA at degree level, along with a Teaching Diploma specializing in infants. He moved to Harare to further his music career and started performing at events like the acoustic night at the Zimbabwe German Society.

Fungai Nengare’s talent landed him a role as one of lead vocalist for the renowned outfit Jazz Invitation which saw him perform locally and regionally with the band. And also composed one their hit songs titled ‘Nguwe’.

His happy, soulful and accessible melodies have seen Fungai write hits like his number one  track on Starfm (local radio station)for 5 weeks straight titled “ Maybe it’s You”,  Beautiful day and take me Home and Starfm best R&B award nominated track “Like I Love You” . His innovative style and ability to fuse various cover and self composed songs and giving them a  personalised touch  has enabled him to grace high-profile stages such as HIFA, MUSICA Italian music festival; corporate events;  weddings; festivals ; Brand activations such as Remy Martin, Grants and Glenfidich and acoustic sessions at local restaurants namely Horsebox bar, Queen of hearts, the jam Tree to name a few where he entertains guest and patrons with various cover songs.

Fungai has worked with artists such as Tina Masawi ,Prudence Katomeni, Patience Musa, Dj Naida, Simba Tagz, Reverb 7, Tehn Diamond, Synik, Rutendo Denise, Prayer Soul, Adiona and Tariro Negitare.

Fungai went on a three-month exchange programme in Munich, Germany(DE), which saw him perform at various festivals, namely, Nuremburg and Chiemsee Festivals in Germany and the Zwarte Cross festival in Holland (HL). He recorded a collaborative album with Munich-based band Jamaram. Back in Zimbabwe (ZW) he performed with Jamaram at HIFA 2014 and with another German band, Masaa, at the Zimbabwe German Society’s 30th anniversary. In 2015 he performed in Vienna, Austria (AU) and Regensburg, Germany(DE).

Fungai Nengare currently has an album out titled “Songs About You” available on all major streaming platforms  and is currently working one follow up album and various collaborations.
